Abstract

The authors address the topic from highly diverse perspectives: consequently, the broad variety of articles ranges from journalistic considerations on the Women’s World Cup 2011, to a historical examination of the relation between soccer, nation, and gender, to sports-pedagogical questions with a focus on elementary school students. However, the individual parts of this broad fundament seem at times somewhat unrelated to each other, the anthology misses an aim. Additionally, the articles are, in most cases, grounded on an uncritical concept of sports that highlights solely the potentials for social work, without sufficiently naming risks, limits, and negative aspects.
