Drawing on scholarly thought in gender studies and political approaches to gender equity, this anthology examines and reflects upon the goals and implementation of “gender mainstreaming.” Contributors include women who have been actually implementing gender equity as well as scholars who have addressed this issue. Based on their experiences and their expertise, these authors explain the opportunities and risks of this concept, problematise as well as further develop the idea of “gender mainstreaming.” Aside from sensitising their readers to relevant terms, the authors also offer insights into the historiography of the concept, discuss theoretical approaches as well as different ways in which “gender mainstreaming” is currently being implemented.Downloads
