The authors Zülfükar Çetin and Heinz-Jürgen Voß provide a discussion they consider both necessary and urgent: To what extent does 'the homosexual' increasingly serve as a figure of discourse for Western hegemony (and this not only due to being instrumentalized, but due to actively participating in current discourses)? The focus, hence, is on the question of how a group - prima facie not regarded as privileged - is embedded in power relations. 'Visibility' and 'identity', the two keywords from the book's title, are taken up repeatedly and analyzed in different contexts. Those, who judge the book by its size and thus expect a concise treatise of an introductory character, are mistaken: they will find a complex analysis and tight argumentation.References
