Abstract

Up until today, considerations of the others, such as the ‘criminals’, the ‘lunatics’, the ‘animals’, and the ‘wild’, are the basis of disciplines that build upon difference and they also structure the entire knowledge industry. These conference proceedings offer multifaceted and enlightening insights into the fragile constructions of ‘the gendered other/s’ – in this case conceptualized as figures of alterity – and thus contribute above all to the interdisciplinary exchange and to the deconstruction of the genders of the others.
