Hilary Brown and Gillian Dow’s anthology examines the networks of communication and the cultural exchange between intellectual and writing women in 18th and 19th century Europe. It elaborates particularly on the analysis of the intertwined connections between the scholarly women of different countries, considering their written correspondence, their mutual visits, and the contacts that were developed in literary salons. Through the analysis of published and unpublished sources of various genres (from novel to poetry, travel journals, and fairy tales to autobiographies), the volume offers new insights into the literary practice and the development of the European tradition of female writing.Downloads
