The five chapters of this book address the history of female jurists from 1900 to 1945 regarding the admission of women to legal studies, the permission for exercising the profession, as well as their professional life in the traditional legal occupations as lawyer, judge, in upper-level administrative service etc. The book also analyzes their involvement in various women’s movement associations and a description of the situation of female jurists in National Socialist times completes the work. Marion Röwekamp’s work, which is completed by extensive statistical and biographical material, manages to convey profound insights into the history of the professionalization of female jurists, which is characterized by severe resistance.Downloads
