With their anthology, the editors succeed in offering insights into the scientific and above all into the medical discussion surrounding ‘intersexuality’. The anthology gives representatives of various disciplines the chance to speak and it presents several recent research findings on satisfaction with treatments and on the anatomical and functional results of medical interventions, which the German Ethics Council did not consult for its February 2012 report “Intersexuality”. Unfortunately, only very few statements by intersexes and by parents of intersexes found their way into the anthology.
