The discussion of the issue of how the career paths of women and men in academia are conditioned by organizational practices in research institutions is at the center of this anthology by Kirsti Dautzenberg, Doris Fay, and Patricia Graf. Based on the authors’ own empirical findings, the four chapters, which also include commentaries, short portraits, and interviews with people involved as well as not involved in research, give insights into the mechanisms of promotion and withdrawal in German extra-university research. This easily readable volume addresses science policy and management as well as practitioners of gender equality politics. Researchers might, however, miss in-depth reflections on the findings.Downloads
