In her dissertation Kathrin Schrader researches the mechanisms of agency developed by women whose lives are defined by drug use and sex work. Based on eight interviews with drug-using female sex workers, she analyzes her interviewee’s agency in the face of massive social discrimination and their subject construction from the perspective of governmentality theory and intersectional multi layered analysis. In this way she can convincingly point out interdependencies between social structures, stereotypes and discourses, as well as identify identity constructions. Her analysis constitutes an important contribution to the deconstruction of how society deals with this group.Downloads
