The interdisciplinary anthology captures the intersections between court history and all those disciplines that deal with cultural actions of women, including, among others, musicology and music history, history, German studies, literary studies and cultural studies, art history, and the history of agriculture. The authors examine culture mainly as a form of practice at the royal court and in this context particularly the roles that women actively assumed or were assigned. The articles pursue gender-specific questions that tend to uncover cultural actions of women or tend to develop questions that serve as a means for uncovering these actions.
