This compendium, edited by Heinz Sieburg, comprises twelve articles aimed mainly at lecturers in cultural studies in the broadest terms. The volume starts off with two introductions to the theory of gender discourse. It then presents a variety of contributions dealing with text analysis and linguistics, and finishes off with an essay on anthropology. The articles on text analysis range in era from the Early Middle Ages to the post-modern era and provide an astonishingly innovative approach: while always indicative of their didactic purpose, for the most part they do not stay within the merely pedagogical realm. As can be seen, each literary age and genre can provide interdisciplinary insights into gender, the „ʻelementary category’ and leading research question“.Downloads
