This book offers a thorough analysis of Emmy Noether's way of working and her impact on contemporary mathematics up to the development of modern algebra. Mechthild Koreuber shows in which way the mathematician inspired a scientific school, although she never possessed the necessary institutional requirements for this. Special emphasis is given to analyzing the social preconditions and social mechanisms that are important for mathematical research as well as for breaking with established traditions of thinking and creating new ones.Downloads
