In her book Mona Motakef offers a valuable insight into the on-going sociological debate about increasing precariousness. The phenomenon of increasing precariousness includes all processes of social change which unsettle a society's traditional institutionalizations and normality, leading to social insecurity. Motakef takes a broad view of 'increasing precariousness', thus not only providing the perspective of traditional industrial sociology, but also including aspects of gender research. The author states that the increasing precariousness of existence could form the starting point for a wide range of political actions such as 'postoperaism'. The review discusses what can be gained from an expanded definition of precariousness.Downloads
