In this literary analysis, Jenny Bauer deals with gendered concepts of subject between hegemony and marginalization, examining four individual cases from German-speaking and Scandinavian Modernism. She approaches her overarching question of what are the interdependencies between space and gender by exploring diverse concepts of masculinity and femininity, heterosexuality and homosexuality. Methodologically, she unites several approaches from the theories of space and gender.
