Abstract

'How to teach media studies in a gender sensitive way that is respectful of diversity? Which principles of teaching can be used and how can they be transformed into methods?' the editors ask in the blurb. The authors answer these questions by presenting five modules for seminars of 90 min each. The modules are contextualized in a programmatic introduction as well as a discussion between the authors on learning processes as regards gender sensitive and diversity sensitive teaching. By means of the five modules the book explores possibilities of planning specific seminars. Apart from this, the volume fails to take a clear stance as to what it wants to achieve and thus, does not fully meet its intended objectives (as presented in the introductory comment).
