In this anthology which results from a conference at the university of Innsbruck, central omissions made by migration studies (such as the underexposure of gender and sexuality as well as the negation of migrants’ agency in the migrational societal reality of European states) are criticized from a postcolonial-feminist perspective. These omissions are thematized with the aid of various disciplinary and theoretical approaches, among others sociology, history, and media studies. The contributions give an overview of current debates within gender sensitive migration studies.
