Differences can be functionalized as a basis for discrimination, as the changes in social and political discourse following the Cologne New Year's Eve 2015 have shown. In their analysis, Sabine Hark and Paula-Irene Villa show the reader how differences can be thought and said in a plural and anti-essentialist way.
