Abstract

Astrid Deuber-Mankowsky’s study of Lara Croft offers exciting insights into problems in media theory and cyber theory, as well as current research in gender studies. Deuber-Mankowsky uses the phenomenon of Lara Croft to discuss and put to the test theories by Judith Butler, Teresa de Lauretis, Marshall McLuhan, Slavoj Žižek, and Jacques Lacan. Deuber-Mankowsky focuses on analysing how new conditions of communication may reproduce traditional gender relations.
