Abstract

In the last decade the body has been the subject of interdisciplinary research. The collected volume, Images of the Body between Nature and Culture, by Hildegard Macha and Claudia Fahrenwald contributes to interdisciplinary gender research. The volume aims to focus on the controversial positioning of the body ‘between nature and culture’ (p. 7). The articles come from pedagogy, sociology, theology, the classics, as well as from history and sports sciences. The volume comprises three parts, which provide systematic, historical and practical approaches to the topic.
