This volume was a thesis submitted to the University of Augsburg. In it, Birgit Schaufler aims to inject new impulses into contemporary gender debate by looking at the ‘gendered subject in its physical mode of existence’ (p. 205). This ambitious aim is pursued from a theoretically grounded position and through a historical examination of sources, although in the opinion of the reviewer it is not ultimately achieved.Downloads
