Abstract

The anthology KörperKonzepte/Concept du corps documents the results of the conference with the same name, which was organized by the Swiss Society for Women and Gender Studies in March 2001 at the University of Basel. In the preface, the editors underscore the international and interdisciplinary character of the volume and see an advantage over an “exclusively cultural-scientific perspective” (p. 12) in their goal to connect theoretical approaches from both cultural and natural sciences. The book, which is divided into three sections, deals with “viewpoints and interpretations”, “cultural-historical approaches” and, in the last section, asks “questions for the life sciences”.
