Abstract

Queer Denken is an anthology of essays stemming from Queer theory that have been translated for a German-speaking audience for the first time. Queer theory is one of the most productive research areas in the USA. It is also—less as a discipline as much more like a movement of thought or perspective for questioning—much better integrated in American academia as in German-speaking countries. Queer theory still lacks a broad reception in Germany, which is also why Queer Denken is one of the most important publications of last year. The book underexposes several themes of queer thought, but this is not the end of the world. For its merit alone in making a number of highly important texts available in German and therefore allowing them to be received more easily makes the book a valuable purchase for students and teachers.
