For over 70 years the regulation of familial law in accordance with the German Civil Code (Bürgerliches Gesetzbuch) determined not only the administration of justice, but also the living conditions of illegitimate children as well as those of their mothers and fathers. The examination of the attempts to change the laws illustrates the difficulties of individual social groups in coming to terms with the topic of illegitimacy.Downloads
