To explain the connection of transgression, aggression and inversion, the author presents some authentic examples from the last turn of the century in Europe. Opposing the common view of violence as a male dominion, she presents female concepts of the self and the other that are based on violence, that is, women who became duellists, soldiers and murderers. These concepts of life have the potential of transgressing the well established social boundaries between the two sexes, thus enabling the women to take on the position of a subject.Downloads
