The editors have collected a markedly diversified mix of contributions from sociology, literature, and art that all have in common the reference to Niklas Luhmann’s system theory. So far so good. To tag the pronouncedly disparate output of this small volume with the “transfer of theory” is a self-attribution that is in no way held up by all contributions. The transfer of theory encompases primarily the phenomenon of the effectiveness of gender stereotypes that themselves still emerge in a functionally differentiated society. Such stereotypes are in turn productive material for contemporary art, as they may be turned on their head or ironically reconfigured.Downloads
