Abstract

At the end of the Second World War the allied members of the occupying forces interned former functionaries and supporters of the National Socialist regime for security reasons, among them numerous women. Kathrin Meyer studies the intentions, plans, and implementation of the politics of internment for the entire US zone for the first time, whereby she devotes herself especially to the interned women. The empirically founded study sheds a new light on American internment policies. However, readers who are interested in questions related to women’s and gender history could be a bit disappointed.
