The 17 contributions in this survey volume illustrate the editors’ thesis that the close connection, in terms of history and content, between the system of knowledge and of gender prompted their simultaneous change since the 18th century. They do so using selected topics, primarily from the area of cultural studies, in definition from and intersection with other areas of knowledge. They thus illustrate the central role the category of gender plays in scientific knowledge of the present.Downloads
