Abstract

The volume at hand examines the entirety of Irmgard Keun’s literary production and successfully builds a bridge between the author’s earlier and later work, often regarded in criticism as disparate. Keun is not only positioned as author within the contemporaneous literary scene but is also displayed in her role as a literary pioneer of postmodernism. Blume places specific emphasis on the particularities of a female author’s destiny.
