This article discusses the “gender blindness” of the mainstream transformation theories. It is based on a short analysis of the processes of transformation in Poland by Christiane Frantz. The second part of the article presents hypotheses on the possible origins and functions of the resistence against the introduction of the basic category of gender. In order to clarify the insufficient character of research done in this field, articles from Birgit Sauer and Vlasta Jalušič are being discussed.Downloads
