Abstract

Adolf Holl delivers a somewhat superficial yet well-written examination of diverse religious phenomenon in their respective historical and social contexts. He attends to, among other issues, the religiosity of farm-based cultures since the Stone Age, the royalty and priesthood, the new-age movement, and the cult of Maria. The title of the book is misleading.
