The collection German-Jewish History as Gender History. Studies on the Nineteenth and Twentieth Century (Deutsch-jüdische Geschichte als Geschlechtergeschichte. Studien zum 19. und 20. Jahrhundert) illuminates the relevance of the category “gender” for the historical course of acculturation, bourgeoisification, and secularization. The family is the space in which the processes of radical change collide and in which Jewish identities and the relationship to the majority society are negotiated.Downloads
