Church history is often presented as “men’s history.” Comprised of 36 biographies of women, the volume at hand makes clear that in the past century, it was often women who set impulses, incited and perpetuated progression, and ventured out on new paths-often counter to the resistance of their male and female contemporaries. The editor thus makes an important contribution to the church’s identity of today.Downloads
