In her book, Eske Wollrad develops a critique of the current and traditional understanding of “being white” and the essentialist conception of “race” and gender connected to this. She particularly refers to the German situation, although she throws a glance at the “concepts of whiteness” that are perpetuated through global ideals of beauty and popular culture. The book is influenced by Wollrad’s attempt to develop new forms of understanding and communication with the respective other.Downloads
