Abstract

Andrea Geier’s comprehensive study “Violence” and “Gender” places literary presentations of violence and their diverse references to models of “masculinity” and “femininity” in a new light. Geier examines seven German-language prose texts written by six authors and published in the 1980s and 1990s. The author traces the narrative modes connecting different literary and extra-literary discourses, discourses that create specific constellations for the relationship between violence and gender.
