Abstract

This monograph deals with the history of film in Russia and the Soviet Union and claims to be the first and the most up-to-date of its kind. By alternating between the inside and the outside perspective, Christine Engel and her interdisciplinary as well as international team of authors attempt to look at Russia from a new angle, using the history of film as a paradigm.
