Abstract

The volume edited by Walter Fähnders and Sabine Rohlf is an inspirational contribution to scholarly debate on the work of Annemarie Schwarzenbach and provides direction for future study. The individual essays disclose perspectives from the standpoints of literary history, cultural studies, and gender theory, which go well beyond the dominate biographical readings of Scharzenbach’s texts to date. Additionally, the volume encompasses the first edition of a selection of stories, letters, and photographs as well as a comprehensive bibliography of the works of and on Annemarie Schwarzenbach.
