Abstract

Assembling numerous names and photos of actresses famous at the beginning of the last century and long forgotten since is in itself a commendable and industrious piece of work. The choice of a “fanbook” as the form to present this collection, however, makes it impossible for the author, if he was willing to do this at all, to reflect on his material and interpret it. So the book is no more than an inspiring excavation site, leaving the interpretation of the dug-out objects to the reader.
