Bettina Suthues’ study questions the positioning of girls in the German scouting organization of St. Georg. The study interrogates their strategies of constructing and communicating both organization and gender affiliation. Suthues relies on the theories of the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu, whose concepts of illusio, habitus, and field represent the interpretative basis for her examination.Downloads
