The collection engages with the provisions for marriage and family within the structures of the German tax law and social system from the perspectives of economics, social science, and law. The types of these provisions for marriage and family have been the source of political and scholarly controversy for years, particularly in terms of tax law. The form these provisions or aid should take is tightly connected to concepts of debt, the political aid of certain types of family configurations, and a traditional division of work among the sexes. One example of this aspect is the current manner of splitting the income tax among married partners and the proposed reforms of this system. This has been a topic discussed for decades and finds its way into many of the articles of this volume.Downloads
