The volume at hand, written by Detlef Siegfried, presents a comprehensive and well-founded analysis of the West German youth culture of the “long” 1960s. He is particularly concerned with the relationship between consumerism and politics and can prove that it was actually the ambivalent connection between lifestyle and engagement that characterized the often referred to specific dynamic of this time period. His point of departure is the changing approach to music: Music becomes a mode of expression but also a motor of the changing youth culture.Downloads
