The events surrounding the poet’s crowning of Christiana Mariana von Ziegler in early Enlightenment Leipzig form the point of departure for this published version of Cornelia Caroline Köhler’s dissertation. Anonymous vituperative attacks against Ziegler as a crowned poet and against those who were part of the ceremony were composed within student circles. These became the focus of procedural prosecution of libel. The author examines the scenes under cultural, literary, and legal-historical aspects, especially in respect to the promotion of women’s education and erudition in the 18th century. Striking are the editions and evaluations of the Saxon case files from 1733/34.Downloads
