Bodies are normalized for work processes in order that they can be utilized in the best and most profitable manner. They should function well—if they do not, then they are sidelined. But the consumer and leisure industry also sets norms—not through a “repressive power,” but through the cooperation of all involved. The contributions in this collected volume utilize a Foucaultian perspective to shine light on some of those bodies that have been pushed to the margins. Which physical features cause one to be marginalized? And which physical features are imagined in order to cause exclusion on the basis of anti-Semitic, racist, and sexist beliefs? This book offers historical and contemporary perspectives and is well-worth reading; scholars who have longed worked on such themes authored the contributions. The volume allows readers to participate in their work, if even only briefly.Downloads
