The collected volume Against Women—On the History and Function of Misogynous Speech (Wider die Frau—Zu Geschichte und Funktion misogyner Rede) concerns itself with misogyny in a variety of discourses. Sixteen contributions describe the configuration and function of misogynistic expressions in their respective historical contexts—from the 12th to the 20th century. Some of the essays outline effects and ask for counter-strategies. The volume offers many interesting individual analyses, however, the selection and structure thereof seem somewhat arbitrary.Downloads
