Do humans have an entitlement to physical and psychic integrity? How did such entitlement develop and on what basic tenants does it rest? The collected volume at hand illuminates the human right to physical integrity from the perspective of history, literary theory, politics as well as Islamic studies, sociology, and law. The authors approach current arguments justifying human rights as a fundamental right. Their analyses, critiques, and confrontations provide an innovative contribution to the current debates on torture, physical integrity, and accountability.Downloads
