The study depicts how women’s lifestyles oriented along societal specifications are a structural barrier and influence career changes. In contrast to this, male lifestyles, which fulfill established conceptions of the gender-typical division of work, still continue to promote male careers. With the concept of a bourgeois lifestyle, Bärbel Könekamp unmasks an important mechanism for the reproduction of vertical segregation in the labor market.Downloads
