In her seminal study of the judgment of criminality and the need for security in Germany the author is able to sweep aside many prejudices, in particular those that see a relationship between gender and the fear of becoming a victim of a crime. She critically examines gender-typifying data collection and proposes a typology of security mentalities. This new instrument for analysis can help us to understand mental states in relation to the fear of criminality.Downloads
