The idea of equality explored in the writings of the classic political philosophers Hobbes and Rousseau should be examined in the context of more recent feminist debates on equality and difference. However, the study produces a mere repetition of the primary literature and its reception history, while placing a special focus on Lacan. The diverse and broad discussions found in feminist theory are not given adequate consideration.Downloads
