Abstract

“Women in positions of power” – This centuries-old demand is still pertinent today. Women’s participation in politics has admittedly gotten much better, but they are still rarely seen in positions of leadership. The descriptive handbook provides details for each continent, illustrating under which socioeconomic, institutional, and cultural influential factors women become heads of state or government. Numerous individual biographies illuminate the personal histories.
