In a study based on a broad range of material, Sabine Gries examines the types of images of lesbian girls and women that are transmitted primarily by contemporary children’s and youth advice literature as well as by trendy magazines. The author suggests that old clichés, prejudices, and non-scientific contentions are communicated below the surface of such supposedly educational impulses. The examination can be located in the tradition of text-immanent and socio-historical approaches, though it does not directly say as such, nor does it provide justification for or align the approach with the objects studied; Gender and Queer Studies are not taken into consideration. Moreover, the author’s retelling of content is often too detailed.Downloads
