Unlike the “Encyclopedia of National Socialism,” which was published in 1999 as volume 20 of the “Digital Encyclopedia,” the Encyclopedia of the GDR is not merely a digitalized book. Rather, it combines the contents of three older print encyclopedias. The reviewer points to a few flaws which he argues arise from the digital nature of this encyclopedia. Aside from this criticism, this encyclopedia does have to offer a fair bit of useful and accessible information for anyone working in women’s studies and gender studies.Downloads
